The title of this show is taken from ENSO Plastic’s theme and mission. They tell us to “think differently’ about plastic. In what way?
Well, first is to admit it is a critical part of life. A staple of our consumer market. It is not going away.
Second, there’s a lot of plastic we cannot properly recycle, despite our current technology and good intentions.
Yet, we all agree that plastic is overwhelming our environment, including our oceans.
Then, how do we approach this problem? How do we “think differently”? With ENSO Plastic, as you will hear from their VP of Product Development and Sustainability, Teresa Clark, it is in the production of new plastic. The materials that they use that makes their product biodegradable. So, even if it ends up in the landfill, it does go away and naturally decompose. That is very different than the plastic made with fossil fuel.
Their goal, and our goal, should be to make this useful product compostable. Completely. So that it is benign to our eco-system.
Can we? How should we? Good questions that we covered here.
Zen tells us we have, and need, a “circle of life”. That includes, we hope, our packaging and consumer goods.
